Unmooring and Towage from Rio del Rey (Cameroon) to Jiang Yin (China)

The SEREPCA 1 FSO has reached her life limit and the major french oil company TOTAL awarded us a contract to unmoor the FSO and to remove the 11 heavy chains pattern from the sea bed. Once the FSO was free from all her moorings, we towed the FSO to her last destination being Jiang Yin in China, close to Shangaï on the Yang Tse river, for her demolition. Three big tugs were used for the unmooring operations at Rio del Rey in Cameroon and one of the three units, the 170 tons Bollard Pull tug ROTTERDAM towed the FSO all the way to China where the FSO was safely delivered on the 3rd of July 2009.
The SEREPCA 1 FSO (ex "KASPROWY WIERCH" built in 1974 for the polish merchant navy) was a tanker of 130.400 tdw with length of 284 meters and a width of 43,40 meters, converted into a FSO (Floating Storage of Oil) in Marseille (France) in the years 1983-1984.

Towage from Ulsan (Korea) to offshore field of AKPO (Nigeria) and assistance during mooring operations


AKPO FPSO safely delivered at the Akpo field in Nigeria
The giant AKPO FPSO has been safely delivered mid-october 2008 at her final destination on the AKPO oil field offshore Nigeria. The towage contract awarded to Giant Marine and Svitzer Ocean Towage covered the towage of the giant FPSO of 310 meters long and 77 meters wide using three ocean going tugs developing a combined bollard pull of about 570 tons. The voyage started in Ulsan in Korea for a long journey of 11550 nautical miles, including the passage around the coast of South Africa and the Cape of Good Hope where the transport had to fight with waves of more than 20 meters, and where an additional tug was added to the spread. The 4 tugs were used for the installation and the mooring of the FPSO to the anchor lines pre-installed by the client.

Sister tugs LONDON and ROTTERDAM joining forces from Texas to Brasil

Two tugs of 20000 HP each, the sister tugs LONDON and ROTTERDAM have joined forces after being committed by PRIDE to tow the giant Pentagone type rig PRIDE MEXICO from Galveston in Texas to Macae in Brazil via Puerto Rico and Sainte Lucia for stores, bunkers and crew changes.

A journey of 5700 nautical miles executed smoothly by the two tugs at an average speed of 4,75 knots, in accordance with the predictions, taking into account the strong counter currents encoutered at this time of the year along some parts of the towing route to Brazil.

West Africa to Far East for the AL BARAKA 1
The ocean tug WOLRAAD WOLTEMADE has towed the drilling tender barge AL BARAKA 1 from Abidjan in Ivory Coast to Singapore where the barge was delivered to its new owner.

The transport made a short stop-over in CapeTown for bunkering and storing both the tug and the barge and their respective crews.

The offshore working vessel MAERSK ASSERTER has been hired to ACERGY to perform a lot of underwater works and surveys and to do the mooring of the PLUTONIO FPSO upon its arrival offshore Angola from the Far East.

A job of approximately 6 months for the blue vessel to achieve all the various tasks of the project together with her crew plus the 60 project managers, technicians, engineers and ROV operators from the clients accomodated on board.

DE DA towing BARRACUDA
The ocean going tug DE DA towed the drilling barge PRIDE BARRACUDA from Pointe Noire to Singapore where the barge was delivered to its new owner. The transport made a stop-over in the port of Durban in South Africa to take bunkers and stores for both the tug and the manned barge.

After the FPSO hull was fitted with all topside modules in Singapore, three ocean going tugs offering together close to 600 tons of bollard pull towed the giant ERHA FPSO to its final destination offshore Nigeria where she was installed and moored using the 3 ocean tugs and one offshore supply vessel, the MAERSK WINNER. At completion of the works, Steven M Day, the FPSO Manager for EXXON MOBIL expressed its satisfaction and wrote us:

From Port Harcourt and Korea to Singapore and Nigeria

GIANT MARINE was involved in the major ERHA project. The ERHA FPSO hull has been succesfully towed from Korea to the shipyard in Singapore where the topsides integration is now taking place, and barge GIANT 3 towed by tug Suhaili has transported the 115 m long flare and large modules of the ERHA FPSO topsides from Port Harcourt to Singapore.

From Aichi Works (Japan) to Sanha field (Angola)

In November 2004, two ocean going tugs of 200 tons Bollard Pull started the long towage of the Sanha LPG FPSO from South East Japan to offshore Angola, via Malacca Straights, Mozambique channel and Cape of Good Hope, a long journey of 11 000 nautical miles. The two tugs also assisted SBM in the installation and the mooring of the FPSO in the field.
